Explore the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame in Pecos
The Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame, located in Pecos, Texas, is a must-visit museum dedicated to honoring the rich history of rodeo and its roots in the local community. Established by a passionate group of individuals, the museum serves to preserve the legacy of the sport and recognize the people who have made significant contributions to it.
A Tribute to Rodeo Legends
Central to the mission of the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame is the celebration of those who have reached the pinnacle of rodeo competition. The museum especially honors rodeo champions who have competed in the renowned West of the Pecos Rodeo. This annual event has been an integral part of Pecos’ culture and sports history since its inception.
New Location in Historic Setting
The Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame now resides in the historic “Old T&P Depot,” situated at the intersection of Dot Stafford Street and Oak Street. This venue not only reflects the storied past of the region but also provides a fitting backdrop for the artifacts and stories that define rodeo culture. Visitors are encouraged to explore both the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame and the West of the Pecos Museum, which further enriches the understanding of the area’s heritage.
Unique Exhibits and Artifacts
A highlight of the museum is its permanent exhibition featuring an exclusive selection of bits and spurs manufactured by The Original Crockett Bit and Spur Company. This collection pays homage to the legacy of Oscar Crockett, the company’s founder, who was born in Pecos during the early years of the West of the Pecos Rodeo. The collection was generously donated by Standley S. Skinner in memory of his grandfather, embodying the spirit of camaraderie in the rodeo community.
