The renovation marks a significant milestone, extending its historic mission to support both the university and the local community.

A New Chapter in Artistic Exploration

The grand opening of the new Palmer Museum of Art took place on June 1 and 2, delighting visitors with its fresh layout and enhanced facilities. Replacing the previous structure on Curtin Road, the new museum boasts nearly double the exhibition space and innovative education areas. These improvements significantly increase accessibility to Penn State’s ever-growing collection of nearly 11,000 works of art, which is an exciting development for students, faculty, and the general public alike.

Current Exhibitions and Events

Visitors can experience a variety of special exhibitions, such as “MADE IN PA” and “Re/Collecting the Andes: Andean Art, Science, and the Sacred at Penn State.” These exhibitions provide engaging insights into local culture and international contexts, enhancing the museum’s role as a hub for artistic dialogue. The museum also features flexible event spaces that may host various activities, including workshops, lectures, and community gatherings.

Planning Your Visit

The Palmer Museum of Art is open at the following hours:

• Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Thursday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday to Saturday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m.

Note that the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as on university holidays. Upcoming closures include:

• Thanksgiving: November 28-29, 2024
• Winter Break: December 23, 2024 – January 1, 2025
