Nestled in the heart of Naperville, the Naper Settlement Museum is an award-winning, outdoor history museum that invites visitors to explore the past while drawing connections to the present. Things to See and Do

Your visit to Naper Settlement will be filled with immersive experiences. You can watch skilled artisans at work, such as the blacksmith forging metal, or step into the charming one-room schoolhouse for a taste of education from yesteryears. This hands-on approach makes history tangible and relatable.

One of the highlight exhibits is the newly reimagined “Building Naperville: Tallgrass Prairie to Today.” This exhibit showcases the evolution of Naperville, inviting visitors to reflect on the city’s growth and development. Additionally, in celebration of the Naperville Fire Department’s 150th anniversary, the thought-provoking exhibit, “A Strong Back and A Strong Mind,” is ongoing and available through December 2024.

Seasonal Events and Activities

Throughout the year, Naper Settlement hosts a calendar filled with special events. Mark your calendar for the holiday season! From December 6-8, 13-15, and 19-20, 2024, guests can partake in holiday crafts, storytelling, and festive activities. These events provide a wonderful opportunity to create lasting memories with family and friends.

For families, the Harvard Early Learning Playscape and Splashpad offers children a space for creativity and fun. The museum also features blacksmith demonstrations, where you can witness history in action. Furthermore, visitors can pay their respects at the Herman & Anna Hageman Memorial Thresher Hall, which honors the agricultural heritage of the area.
