This sculpture commemorates the legacy of Irish American boxers, the most famous being Johnny Kilbane, who was a world champion and a local hero.

Honoring Excellence with the Walks of Life Award

Since 1997, the IAAS has celebrated the achievements of 131 distinguished individuals of Irish descent through the Walks of Life Award. This prestigious recognition highlights the diverse accomplishments of those from various walks of life. In collaboration with the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History, the IAAS has been actively compiling biographical entries for deceased awardees. By the end of 2024, they aim to submit 48 encyclopedia entries, documenting these influential figures in a scholarly manner.

The IAAS Podcast Series: “Finding Home”

The IAAS has embraced modern technology to share stories and highlight Irish heritage through its weekly podcast series titled “Finding Home.” This engaging series includes approximately 50 episodes chronicling the Irish experience in Cleveland and features interviews with locals who share their own histories.
