The Greenville Area Historical Society, established in 1978, is a vital part of the Greenville community, dedicated to preserving the rich history of this charming town in Pennsylvania. About Our Museum

The Society’s museum, known as the Waugh House, is located at 23 West Main Street. This historic site is notable for being the oldest brick house in Greenville, dating back to 1826. The Waugh House showcases Federal style architecture, featuring original elements like stepped gables and tripartite windows. In the early 1990s, the First National Bank sold the house to the Historical Society for the nominal fee of one dollar, ensuring its preservation and role in the community.

The mission of the Greenville Area Historical Society is to develop awareness and appreciation of the area’s history and its inhabitants. The Society aims to achieve this through various methods, such as:
