Current Exhibitions
The Pioneer Museum of Alabama features over twenty-two historic structures and more than eighteen thousand artifacts. These items provide a vivid picture of prehistoric Alabama as well as the life and times of rural communities in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Your visit will include access to a variety of thematic exhibition halls within the Main Gallery. Here, you can explore displays of historic farm equipment, textile arts like quilting and weaving, and the material culture of pioneer Alabama. The museum also showcases the archaeology of Southeastern Native Americans, Civil War and WWI militaria, and the Victorian era in Troy.
Unique Experiences Await
Step back in time as you explore the museum’s furnished dogtrot cabin and tenant house. A fully stocked Adams General Store captures the essence of early commerce and daily life. Guests can also tour the main building, which features a blacksmith shop, farm implements, pioneer kitchen artifacts, carriages, quilts, and much more. Each exhibit is designed to provide insight into the daily lives of those who lived during these transformative years.
