Community Involvement and Opportunities

Sci-Tech is actively seeking an Assistant Director to join their team. This volunteer-based position will help maintain and enhance the operations of the museum, which has been led by Executive Director Stephen A. Karon since 2008. This initiative highlights the museum’s commitment to community involvement and improvement.

Astronomy Events and Educational Programs

On January 3, 2025, Sci-Tech invites the public to a free observational astronomy event. This special event will start at an early 5:30 AM, coinciding with the peak of the Quadrantid meteor shower. This opportunity showcases the museum’s dedication to providing educational experiences that are both informative and accessible.

Support and Recovery Efforts

The Sci-Tech Center has been fortunate to receive a $3,000 grant from TACNY, the Technology Alliance of Central New York. This contribution is vital in aiding the museum’s recovery efforts and helps fund the building repairs necessary after the devastating flood. With support from donor contributions to the center, Sci-Tech aims to reopen its doors soon, restoring a beloved community resource.

Traveling Science Program and Membership Benefits

In addition to its fixed location, Sci-Tech has launched a Traveling Science Program that can visit schools, youth groups, and community centers. This program allows the museum to bring science to a wider audience. Furthermore, Sci-Tech members enjoy numerous benefits, including a 50% discount on zoo admission, encouraging community engagement with both the zoo and the science center.
