Explore Silicon Valley Lines: A Model Train Museum in San Jose, California

Located in the heart of San Jose, California, the Silicon Valley Lines (SVL) offers a captivating experience for model train enthusiasts of all ages. This charming museum opens its doors to visitors for a series of open house events throughout the year. One of the upcoming events will be held on November 11th from 10 AM, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the world of miniature railroads.

Open House Events: A Family-Friendly Experience

The SVL invites everyone—children, teens, and adults alike—to attend its open house events. These gatherings provide a unique opportunity to see various model train setups and learn more about the fascinating hobby of model railroading. The next event, scheduled for June 15th from 10 AM to 3 PM, promises an enjoyable experience. Attendees can RSVP on the museum’s Facebook Events page to secure their spot.

Innovative Techniques: Weathering with Modern Paints

SVL is not just about showcasing trains; it also offers educational clinics. Recently, SVL’s Vice President, Dave Fallkenburg, gave an engaging presentation at the PCR TechLine Convention. His clinic focused on the innovative technique of weathering model trains using wargaming paints. These techniques enhance the realism of model trains and encourage hobbyists to experiment with their layouts.

A Holiday Message and Remembering George Delucchi

As the year draws to a close, the team at Silicon Valley Lines extends warm holiday wishes to all its visitors. They hope the upcoming new year brings joy, prosperity, and countless trains to enjoy. The museum also took a moment to honor George Delucchi, a beloved member who passed away in 2023. George was known for his friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of model trains. His contributions to the club, especially as Treasurer, were invaluable, and he will be dearly missed by members and visitors alike.
