Talon Gallery: A Cultural Hub in Show Low, Arizona
The Talon Gallery, located within the Aspen Center on the Northland Pioneer College (NPC) campus in Show Low, serves as a vibrant museum showcasing the creative works of local, regional, and national artists. With 573 square feet dedicated to exhibitions, the gallery offers a dynamic space for artistic expression and learning.
Exhibitions and Events
The Talon Gallery hosts a minimum of five rotating exhibits each academic year. These showcases feature a diverse array of media, appealing to a broad spectrum of visitors. The gallery not only attracts NPC students but also many individuals from the wider community. Past exhibitions have included notable works such as Ben Roti’s “Variation: Balance,” Christine Golden’s “The Human Experience,” and the collaborative piece by Sarah Tancred and James Louks titled “Mementos.” Furthermore, selections from the Petrified Forest National Park’s permanent collection have also graced the gallery.
Visiting Artists
The Talon Gallery enhances its educational impact by inviting nationally recognized artists to exhibit their work. These Visiting Artists engage with the community through demonstrations and lectures about their creative processes. Such presentations are open to both students and the public, providing a unique opportunity for artistic interaction and learning.
Permanent Collection
An important aspect of the Talon Gallery is its permanent collection of student artwork. This collection is characterized by outstanding craftsmanship and innovative concepts. The artworks are acquired through purchase awards during the Annual NPC Student Juried Art Show, which takes place each spring. The pieces from the NPC Permanent Art Collection are displayed across several college campuses, ensuring widespread access to artistic talent.

The Talon Gallery is open from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that the gallery is closed on weekends and during college holidays.
