Burlington Historical Society: A Treasure Trove of Local History

The Burlington Historical Society, located in Burlington, Wisconsin, stands as a custodian of the rich heritage and history of the Burlington area. Established in February 1928, it is the first historical society in Racine County. This private, not-for-profit organization is entirely run by dedicated volunteers passionate about preserving local historical records and artifacts.

Museum and Research Center

The Society maintains a vibrant museum situated on the corner of Perkins Boulevard and Jefferson Street. Among the museum’s highlights are the Pioneer Log Cabin in Wehmhoff Square and the Whitman School—a charming one-room schoolhouse dating back to 1840.

Visiting the Museum

For those wishing to explore this intriguing museum, it will be open every other Saturday during Winter 2024-2025 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Additionally, the museum is accessible by appointment, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the local history at their convenience.
