The museum is constantly expanding its collection. In September 2024, during an ECCCMA Board meeting, member Fred Johnson introduced Luke Jansen. Jansen generously offered a unique artifact: a wooden grave marker belonging to his ancestor, Elizabeth Brummer. The contribution adds significant historical value to the museum. Elizabeth Brummer, who lived from 1789 to 1841, was among the early German settlers in the Green Creek Community.

The grave marker, along with a current marker from St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church Cemetery, tells a compelling story of Effingham’s past. The couple’s legacy continues through their descendants, making this artifact a treasured addition to the museum’s exhibitions.
