The Scott County Genealogical Society (SCGSI) is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and genealogists alike. Research Rooms

The SCGSI features dedicated research rooms, providing a conducive environment for genealogy research. Located at 1050 South Main Street, Scottsburg, these rooms are situated at the rear of the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum, just one mile south of the Scott County Courthouse. Visitors can access the first-floor research facilities through a separate entrance, which is also handicapped accessible.

Starting in 2024, the research rooms have new hours and days for those interested in diving deep into their family histories. Support the Society’s Future

The SCGSI is actively working on an endowment fund to secure future rent payments. As of November 2024, the fund has reached $71,538.50; however, this amount fluctuates with market changes. The society invites donations to help reach its financial goals. Contributions are tax-deductible and can be sent to the Scott County Community Foundation, specifically earmarked for the Scott County Genealogical Society.
