History of Rose Hill

Rose Hill was named in 1869 by J.H. Lowery, who played a pivotal role in its early development. At that time, the government encouraged settlers to “Go West, Young Man, Go West” and populate the land. Lowery took this opportunity to create a home about one mile south of the current elementary school. He not only built a residence but also planted roses, shrubs, and trees, which contributed to the area’s charm and beauty. This effort laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the vibrant community known today.
