Cynthia is an internationally recognized fiber artist known for her innovative technique called Picture Piecing, which transforms images into intricate quilt designs. Her work not only showcases her artistic talent but also highlights the storytelling elements inherent in quilting.
Following this, from July 26, 2024, to February 25, 2025, the museum will feature “Joe Mallard: Threading His Grandmother’s Needles.” This unique collection consists of quilts made from tens of thousands of colorful hand-tied knots and stitches. Mallard’s technique involves stitching neckties and other objects onto canvas, creating vibrant displays filled with intricate commentary and swirling colors.
Support the National Quilt Museum
The National Quilt Museum is appealing to its supporters for donations to match a generous $50,000 contribution from Moda Fabrics and two anonymous donors. Contributions made before January 31, 2025, will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling their impact. This fund will help ensure the continuation of programming and exhibitions that inspire quilt enthusiasts and promote quilting as an art form.
