Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame: A Tribute to Racing Legends
The Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame, located in Lincoln, United States, stands as a testament to the rich history and vibrant culture of auto racing in Nebraska. Established with the goal of honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport, this museum is a must-visit for racing enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
History and Inception
The concept for the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame originated in the mid-1990s during discussions held at State Fair Park in Lincoln. Bob Nickolite and Tony Glenn, who were actively promoting the Nebraska State Championship Races, began brainstorming the idea over coffee. They envisioned a dedicated space to celebrate the achievements of notable Nebraskans in auto racing.
After numerous discussions, the founding members of the Hall of Fame were selected, including racing historian Ray Valasek and former driver Bob Burdick. The initial formal meeting was held in the spring of 1997, where Nickolite was elected as the first President. This small but passionate group quickly developed plans, creating by-laws and filing for non-profit status. The first induction ceremony took place in 1998, coinciding with the State Fair Championship Races.

Among its objectives is the promotion of auto racing in Nebraska and the establishment of a scholarship program to support aspiring racers.
