Northern Heritage Mills (NHM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization located in Claremont, New Hampshire. Founded in 2001, NHM has been dedicated to promoting the preservation of historical technologies and the unique educational opportunities they provide. Goals of Northern Heritage Mills

The primary goal of NHM is to establish an Educational Demonstration Center in Claremont. This center will utilize historical technologies along with interactive modalities to inform, educate, train, and inspire students from middle to post-secondary education, as well as the general public. The focus is on engineering principles, scientific processes, manufacturing technology, and entrepreneurship.

At NHM, place-based education occurs in a creative, hands-on environment within a restored hydro-powered facility on the Sugar River. This setting offers a unique backdrop for valuable learning experiences. The goal is to instill a lifelong appreciation for discovery and ingenuity in the fields of engineering, science, and manufacturing technologies. The museum also aims to preserve manufacturing technology by exhibiting significant equipment used in industry from the 1700s to the 20th century.
