The Western Steam Fiends Association Museum, nestled in Salem, Oregon, is a must-visit destination for anyone fascinated by steam-powered machinery and transportation history. Exciting Holiday Events
This December, the museum is excited to host its 5th Annual Holiday Sparkles event. Spread over three weekends, families can enjoy this enchanting experience on:
- December 7 & 8
- December 13, 14, & 15
- December 20, 21, & 22
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM during these weekends, visitors can drive through beautifully decorated grounds and even have the chance to meet Santa. Admission is free, though monetary donations are gladly accepted to support ongoing museum operations.

Powerland Heritage Park is open from April through September, with hours Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. While the park is primarily open during these months, you can still visit the Western Steam Fiends Association Museum by appointment or for private events at other times of the year. A Treasure Trove of History
Not only does the museum feature amazing steam-powered machinery, but it is also the stage for the annual “Great Oregon Steam-Up,” celebrated for being a festival of all things steam-related. This event has been honored as the “Best Annual Event” for three consecutive years at the Best of the Willamette Valley Awards. The upcoming celebration will take place on July 26 & 27 and August 2 & 3 in 2025, focusing on logging equipment and engines in the Northwest.
