Exploring the Greenville Railroad Park and Museum
Located in the heart of Greenville, Pennsylvania, the Greenville Railroad Park and Museum offers a unique glimpse into the region’s rich railroad history. Established in 1985 by a dedicated group of volunteers, the museum aims to preserve and promote the local railroad legacy. With support from the community, including donations of historic trains, the museum has grown into a beloved local attraction.
History and Development
The Greenville Railroad Park and Museum was born from passion and commitment. The property’s donation by Mr. Marc Rinella was pivotal in its establishment. Over the years, the Bessemer Railroad generously donated a 1936 steam engine, along with an iron ore car and caboose #1985. A dedicated team of volunteers constructed the museum building, gift shop, speeder shed, and maintenance shed, transforming the grounds into a welcoming historical site.
Additional contributions included another caboose from the UP Railroad and a flat car from Cooper Bessemer, which only enriched the park’s collection. The hard work of countless volunteers has been instrumental to the museum’s success, and today, over 180 members continue to support its mission. The museum acknowledges these efforts with a heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone involved.
