The Irving Heritage Society, founded in 1978, stands as a testament to the rich local history of Irving, Texas. Established as an outgrowth of the American Bicentennial Commission, this vibrant organization was spearheaded by the passion of Mr. and Mrs. Neill English and Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Bates. Their vision was clear: to create a permanent body that would foster interest in history, particularly local history, and to ensure the preservation of Heritage House.

The mission of the Irving Heritage Society is to advocate for historic preservation, educate the community about its rich heritage, and accumulate local history. Heritage House and Heritage Park

One of the Society’s primary projects was the establishment of Heritage Park. This initiative included the restoration of the Caster cabin and the acquisition of significant historical artifacts, such as a depot, caboose, vintage water tank, and windmill. Through these efforts, the Society enables visitors and residents alike to connect with Irving’s railroad origins and its journey through time.
