Upcoming Exhibitions for Fall 2024
This season, two primary exhibitions will run from August 26 to November 10. The first is “Scene 8: Aircraft Carrier” by Lauren Kelley. This exhibition features a single-channel video with sound, exploring themes tied to military history and its emotional landscape. Kelley’s work, including “Scene 8: The Aircraft’s Refrigerated Storage,” promises to engage viewers with thought-provoking imagery.
The second exhibition, titled “Out(side) of Time,” is by Kathleen McShane. It features watercolor, ink, and collaged elements, collaborating with artist Ellen Bahr. McShane’s piece captures the essence of interconnectedness within artistic experiences, making it a must-see for art enthusiasts.
School of Art & Design Thesis Exhibitions
The University Galleries will also host the School of Art & Design’s MFA/CD thesis exhibition, “Handwriting: A Type of Connection,” from November 15 to December 13. This exhibition aims to explore how handwriting can symbolize personal connection and communication. It promises to present a diverse range of artworks that reflect the unique perspectives of the Master of Fine Arts candidates.
Furthermore, the B.F.A. Thesis Exhibitions will take place from December 2 to December 13. The exhibition “When All is Said and Done” will open with a reception on December 2 at 5 PM. This event offers a platform for undergraduate students to showcase their artistic journey and final projects. In addition, “Visions + Echoes” will follow, starting on December 9, with its own reception at 5 PM.
