Located in the heart of Waco, Texas, the Historic Waco Foundation is a vibrant organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of local history. Established in 1967, this foundational entity has merged efforts from various community groups, including the Heritage Society and the Duncan Foundation, to become a vital storyteller of Waco’s heritage.
Explore the Historic House Museums
The foundation operates four remarkable historic house museums. These houses serve as more than just architectural displays; they are portals into the past, offering an enriching experience for visitors of all ages. The East Terrace, Earle-Napier-Kinnard House, and McCulloch House are open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, allowing guests ample opportunity to explore Waco’s intriguing history.
Educational Programs and Community Engagement
In addition to house tours, the Historic Waco Foundation actively engages the community through various educational programming. This includes field trips for school groups, special events, and a unique Traveling Trunk program designed to share hands-on history with students. Rotating exhibitions also ensure that there’s always something new to discover.

The office operates from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. However, be advised that the office will be closed on various federal holidays throughout 2024, including MLK Day and Independence Day.
