New Acquisitions and Noteworthy Features
Recently, the Historical Society has incorporated exciting new additions to its inventory. One highlight is the silk-screen cards crafted by Katherine Crockett Marnell. A talented artist from Pittsford, Crockett studied in Boston and New York City. She began her venture into card-making with block-printing, eventually transitioning to silk-screening. In 1951, she established her studio in a barn on Furnace Brook, producing beautiful cards until her retirement in 1966.
In a significant gesture, the Pittsford Historical Society acquired the remaining inventory of Crockett Cards in January 2015. These unique cards are produced under the Crockett label, with proceeds supporting the museum’s activities. Each box contains ten cards and is available for $7.00, plus shipping. The camp’s stories resonate with many in the community, making the book a treasured addition to the Society’s offerings. Copies are available for $15.00 both at the museum and directly from Jean.
