The museum is open from May 3 through October, welcoming visitors on Friday and Saturday afternoons from 12 PM to 4 PM. Admission is free, allowing everyone to explore the rich history without any financial barriers. Membership is encouraged, and donations are always appreciated to support the ongoing efforts of the SCHS.

Exploring the History Center

In addition to the museum, the Sauk County Historical Society also operates the Sauk County History Center. Acquired in December 2006, the historic Island Woolen Mill office building was transformed through fundraising and renovations, opening to the public in 2013. This center houses the society’s offices, archives, and research facilities. It is located at 900 2nd Avenue, Baraboo, and is open from Wednesday to Friday, noon to 4 PM, with Saturday appointments available upon request.
