Friends of Old World Wisconsin Museum: A Steward of History

The Friends of Old World Wisconsin museum, located in Eagle, United States, plays a vital role in preserving the rich historical heritage of the region. Founded in 1984, this independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has been committed to supporting the Old World Wisconsin historic site. Through stewardship and integrity, the Friends of Old World have become a cornerstone of the community, engaging supporters to promote and maintain this unique cultural gem.

A Rich History of Support

Since its inception, the Old World Foundation, which operates under the Friends of Old World Wisconsin, has made an incredible impact. With the help of its supporters, the foundation has provided over $9 million in gifts. These funds have significantly enhanced the visitor experience and helped preserve the historical narrative that Old World Wisconsin represents. The organization stands firmly as a leader in encouraging community involvement and promoting educational initiatives related to Wisconsin’s history.

Impactful Programs and Projects

Old World Wisconsin is owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society. However, private support is essential for funding projects outside the site’s operating budget. Thanks to their generous supporters, the Old World Foundation has successfully funded various important initiatives like the heritage breed animal program. They have also contributed to heirloom gardens, historic building preservation, and school field trip subsidies that enable students to connect with local history.
